Hello people of the internet! Since we’ve now entered April - ooooo, kinky - I thought I’d do a little recap of our best selling scents for the month of March. Not gonna lie, not much of this month’s list is much of a shock. We launched the emo range on the first of March, and then restocked it later in the month, and then we’ve run Facebook ads with the Baby Powder Blends.
I’ll be honest, I’ve never really liked the idea of running Facebook ads, but March was the first month in the ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE BUSINESS where we’ve taken them seriously. So if you’ve come from our Facebook ads - again, kinky - then hello!
They have really helped take the constant daily pressure off me as you don’t have to come up with as many creative ideas that ultimately might flop. At least with ads you can literally pay to make sure they’re seen instead of simply praying to Jesus that TikTok etc will show it to people.
With organic content it’s usually run its course after a day or two. Meanwhile, the Baby Fairy ad has been running since the last couple of days of Feb. As you can imagine, having a video still get viewed a full MONTH after posting it, has been really bloody helpful for me and meant that I can focus on other stuff too!
Anyway, I’m just talking shite now aren’t I? I dare say 90% of you aren’t bothered by this sort of thing. I know a lot of “brands” don’t exactly pop on their newsletter to talk about Facebook ads, but I just randomly talk shite. Welcome to Teddy Eva Scents.
Top Scents for March
So let’s get right into 10-6 for our top ten! Here they are…
Black Cherry Parade
I Tear My Heart Open
Me Time
Misery D
Roses for the Dead
To be fair, the only shock here for me is that Black Cherry Parade wasn’t higher. Maybe we didn’t pour as much? Who knows!? But we do plan on keeping all of these and the emo range in general has been one of the most fun micro collections we’ve ever done.
We kinda winged it a bit when we first launched it at the start of March, but that’s what I love about what we do. Most businesses have all these elaborate strategies and plans for the year of what they’re going to do and when. Meanwhile Ross dicks about with a packing video turning someone’s melts “emo” and then goes “fuck it, let’s do it for real.”
Or Isabelle wants to go to Swan Lake and suddenly we have a Fairyland range.
Or I go “do you know what would be a laugh? Mixing Baby Powder with random other scents and seeing if we can make it smell nice.”
I think sometimes this stresses me out. If you realllllllly want a peak behind the curtain, then I’ll be honest enough to admit that often I get worried that I’ll never have a “good” idea again. I think that’s why you have to be prepared to fail miserably when you’re running a business. If you think too much about anything you’ll just end up being too scared to start.
Like I didn’t know if it was going to be a good idea to have our own branded sex toys. Everyone could’ve thought it was totally weird. But there’s currently a bunch of people out there bashing one out with Teddy Eva Scents looking back at them. To be fair, I’m guessing that just increases the intensity of the orgasm 😂
Anyway, let’s hit the top 5
Baby Fairy
Baby Fever
Baby Bergamot
I Write Sins not Tangerines
When Both Our Cars Collide
Number 5 and 4 were a bit of a surprise for me. I didn’t think “When Both our Cars Collide” and “I Write Sins not Tangerines” would be the best selling Emo melts. I would’ve put my money on Black Cherry Parade or I Tear My Heart Open since it’s really cool. I will admit that Bleeding Black is cooler, though.
Then the top three is just Baby Powder Blends.
Baby Fairy seemed to be pretty popular this month. Casually selling 372 pots or so. In one month it would literally enter the top ten of last year. We will pour it as clamshells soon too as people have come back to get more pots! So keep an eye out for those.
We still have a few more Baby Powder blends to pour as they’ve been really fun designing and pouring. I like them because it’s VERY easy to get into a rut with wax melts where you’re lighting the same old scents all the time. But doing these kinda suits who we are as a “brand.”
For better or worse - sometimes worse - we’re slightly different. I know we’re not a business that’s for everyone, nor should we be. If people like incredibly sexy men, swear words, sticking things up their arse, brownies, weird scents, or mild verbal abuse, then we’re probably one of the only brands for you 😂
I genuinely appreciate all of you for somehow being here. I get to be unapologetically me. I get to write an email to 11,000 people and mention sticking things up your arse without even shocking anyone, do you know how cool that is?
We’re all in this weird little club together. Let’s not act like I’m the only weirdo, you lot read these things 😂
But yeah, that’s the top ten for March
If you want to buy any melts from the top ten then you can find them all neatly collected together in our “best sellers of the month” collection.
Oh, and thank you to everyone who ordered from the Fairyland range or the Pirate range. We know owe the kids £285 for their savings pot, which will put them on £741.14 - they even had £1.64 in interest. Which Isabelle was chuffed about when I explained it’s basically free money the back give you.
I’m still torn on the plan for the money for the kids. Like if the kids want to go away for the weekend to a caravan but we don’t have the money, is it acceptable to take £120 out for them to be able to go? Or should I just keep it until they’re 16? I have no idea.
Either way, I feel better about dying knowing I’m slowly putting money away for them.
Speaking about the Fairyland Range, we will have FIVE new ones on Friday - maybe four - that have been inspired by our recent forest holiday. So there’s something to look forward to for Friday’s restock.
But I think that’s enough from me for one day.
I just want to say thank you again for all of you being here, it really does mean the world to everyone.
Much love,
Ross & Rachel x
