Hello people of the internet! It’s Friday night and that means I’m here with your weekly dose of my loveable, sunshine charm. Luckily for you, I’m bring the REAL sunshine with me via some summery, gorgeous wax melts.
As you might be able to guess from the title of this newsletter, we’ve added a BUTT LOAD of Sol de Janeiro scents this week!
Our new Sol de Janeiro range
I’ll be honest, without sounding like a pretentious bellend - not sure why this would even make me pretentious - but I do actually really like the Sol de Janeiro products. Don’t get me wrong, it is rather pricey. But it’s good shit. Not that we’ve tried the full range, just a couple of gift sets that was basically the Cheirosa 62 stuff. But after making these melts I kinda want to try more from the range.
I also REALLY want to bring some of these scents back as room sprays.
Do Not Disturb, When in Rio, Macadamia Dream, and Cheirosa 62 would be banging as room sprays. Even if you lot don’t want them, I’ll just grab them for us. Anyway, if you want to see the full range then here’s an image of the new ones we’ve added to go along with Bum Bum Cream and After Hours…
5 for 4 on Teddy Clamshells with this range
I will also say that I dropped a bit of a bollock in regards to Teddy Pots. We only have around 400-500 empty Teddy Pots left at the unit with none due to be delivered until early May.
Side note: We’re running a lot more Facebook ads at the moment and a lot of that is against Teddy Pots - or more specifically the Baby Powder Blends - so we need to reserve pots for those.
Because of this we’ve had to reduce how many we can pour and we’ve totally dropped Teddy Pots with the Sol de Janeiro range. Instead though, we’re doing 5 for 4 on Teddy Clamshells.
So technically you COULD buy all ten of the scents in the range and get TWO of the clamshells for free, saving you a nice £10.
What else did we pour?
This week we also topped up a bunch of other scents in terms of their clamshells. It was nice to actually have a good bashing of clamshells to fill the shelves back up. It’s a bloody hard balance sometimes getting everything just right with the flow of the business in terms of what to pour. Like we managed to top up a bunch of scents in the “Exotic Escape” range.
It’s a bit of a slow selling range if I’m honest. I think we started it back in… late January, and only now we’re back topping it up. But I never mind slow sellers if I believe in the scent itself. Take something like Fruit Loops. It always sells slow, but I think it’s absolutely spot on. Probably one the scents that we do that always makes me grin. It smells more like fruit loops to me than actual fruit loops - which doesn’t even make sense.
So it could be the slowest seller we ever make, but I’d still stock it just because I know there will people out there who’ll get the exact same reaction as me. Other times, it totally comes down to you guys. Tamed only came back because people kept asking - I wasn’t actually all that fussed to be honest. It’s one of those scents where I go “it’s alright like.”
Aroma Oils are back…
Another thing that people have been asking about is our aroma oils! So we’ve topped almost all of those back up.
I will eventually rebrand the aroma oils with a nice frosted glass bottle, bamboo effect lid, and sexy box. BUT… Umm… I don’t really have an excuse to be fair. I just haven’t sat down to do it. The rebrand stuff takes a bit of time to be fair. Like I still have to send off a design file for HALLOWEEN Candles. Sometimes this shit has to be done well in advance.
Sometimes it’s just a balancing act I guess. I tried explaining it to Isabelle as if every day I wake up with a big jug of water and I have to water different plants.
I have FOUR plants in my life.
Teddy Eva Scents, the kids, Rachel, and myself.
It’s no good putting all the water into one plant and watching the others die.
And it’s no good attempting to water two plants at once and missing them both completely.
Hence why these days I’m getting a lot better at picking ONE at a time. So no more talking to Rachel whilst trying to work, or reading whilst playing with the kids, or being on my phone whilst doing other stuff, or anything that splits my attention.
I’d rather say “I really want to talk to you about this, but if you let me finish this I can give you my full attention.”
I think sometimes I struggle to prioritise myself for some deep, unresolved psychological reasons. But I’m trying.
I’m not going to go into the full depths of all of this - you don’t want that shit - but I think it’s hard to feel like you’re worthy of being prioritised, because prioritising yourself is an act of self love, and maybe you’ve always found it easier to hate yourself than love yourself.
Sometimes you learn to give before ever thinking to receive, but that’s what you know. Maybe that’s why I do what I do with the business in terms of the content?
The selling side of the business comes so unnaturally to me because it’s me asking something from you.
I’m almost being disingenuous. I’m going “be selfish, prioritise yourself. Treat yourself.” All the while struggling to ever do it myself.
Giving though? Sure. I can do that.
Sometimes overly so. Often I feel like I’d rather give to the point where I feel less than myself. I think that’s why I find the content side of the business so easy.
I’m just freely giving myself without any expectation. Here it is. Here I am. Enjoy it or don’t, it’s there. Besides, the content keeps my brain active. Sometimes I wonder if my brain is so active and erratic because it’s scared to slow down land somewhere it doesn’t want to go. Like running across hot coals.
But everything is a work in progress I guess.
So yeah…
Maybe that’s enough for this week. Sorry about that one. It took a little bit of a turn and a deep dive, but yeah, you’re all kinda used to this by now, right?
I hope you all have a good weekend! Kath is actually on annual leave next week so orders might be a little slower getting sent out. We’ll try our best though.
Much love,
Ross & Rachel x
PS. if you’re gonna order, feel free to pick up some Jelly Pussies. They’re literally free if you order something.
